2023 marks the five-year anniversary of Malmö University receiving full university status. We are celebrating this joyous occasion, looking back on many years of education and research since its foundation 25 years ago, 75 years of the School of Dentistry, and the teacher training programme, which has existed for 63 years.
With its multidisciplinary research, Malmö University is contributing to a better society — often in collaboration with other societal actors, both nationally and internationally. This is where innovations, research results and ideas are developed that create value and contribute to solutions to the societal challenges of our time.
Mau holding. Nobel prize
MaU Holding has made its first investment. The first is Pharmista Technologies AB, which is developing reusable pregnancy tests.
On 2 March, Malmö University was visited by Oleksandra Romantsova, director of the Ukrainian civil rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 for its work for human rights, democracy and peaceful coexistence in Ukraine.
Malmö University – then and nowMalmö University – then and now
Immerse yourself in images and events from Malmö University's history. Starting from 1996, when the idea of a university in the city first emerged, we have compiled a timeline of important milestones in both education and research at Malmö University.
Important actor for competence supply
Malmö University annually trains more than 25,000 students in society-supporting professions and academic subjects that stimulate innovative social development. More often than the national average, our students come from homes without an academic tradition. They apply to a young and modern university with a desire to contribute to a sustainable and equal society.

In 2000, when Aleksandar Rodzevski was in his second year of studying computer and electrical engineering at Malmö University, the dot come bubble burst. The industry collapsed and several of his classmates dropped out. Over 20 years later, he works as a software manager for the Malmö company Radinn, which manufactures electric surfboards.
