Community archiving: Experiences from the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton

Using the history and current work of the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, London, as an example, this workshop explores archives and archiving as a resource for ongoing and future social movements, and especially for the mobilization of urban communities and/or anti-racist subjectivities.
Hannah Ishmael is the Collections and Research Manager at Black Cultural Archives, an independent archive based in Brixton, South London. Hannah has recently completed her PhD looking at the devel-opment of Black archives in London and also teaches on the MA in Archives and Records Management at UCL.
