Convergences and ReImaginings: Situating the Black Lives Matter Movement (Session 1)
Zoom (link will be sent to participants)
Welcome to four Zoom “community gatherings” of academics, activists, and cultural workers on the ongoing protests and mobilizations around the Black Lives Matter movement in and beyond the US. In four online workshop sessions throughout October, we address the rich and complex nexus of the BLM movement – as at once transnational/local, historically-rooted/contemporary, political/cultural.
Session 1: Transnational Histories Invited
- Malcolm Momodou Jallow, Founder and Chair of the Pan African Movement for Justice & General Rapporteur on Combating Racism and Intolerance for the Council of Europe
- Anders Bo Rasmussen, Associate Professor in American Studies and Civil War Expert, Syddansk University, Denmark
