Speaker: Professor Bengt Arnetz, Michigan State University (MD, PhD, MPH, MScEPI)
Dr. Arnetz will discuss health and disease from a multi-disciplinary and multi-level socio-ecological perspective with special attention to disease-promoting neuro-endocrine-immunological mechanisms. He will specifically discuss his research on the effects of patients’ distrust of healthcare organizations on access to care during COVID-19.
Furthermore, Dr. Arnetz will present community-engaged efforts focusing on distrust in government and implication for the financial health of vulnerable populations. Finally, he will discuss instructional and scenario-based efforts to strengthen the ability of state troopers (law enforcement) to de-escalate crisis situations involving persons suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disorders.
