Valentin

Malmö Academic Choir sings for the heartbroken

Throughout history, composers have tried to incorporate the spectrum of love into their music. Whether it is a broken heart, a love for nature, amorous curiosity, heartfelt arias, melancholic melodies, or sonorous symphonies, love is an endless inspiration.

In the world of romantic music, we encounter a constant depiction of longing and love that reaches far and beyond. We can find the courage to follow the heart’s desires and get comfort from painful partings. The emotional moods in romanticism fluctuate between peaceful joy, exciting anticipation, and despair and longing.

Malmö Academic Choir has made it a tradition of celebrating Valentine's Day with a concert dedicated to love. This year, we have chosen to put extra focus on the lonely souls among us. Those whose hearts have been hurt from losing a friend, pandemic solitariness, hopelessness, or anxiety. Most of us have experienced emptiness and longing on Valentine's Day at some point in our lives; what could be a better antidote to those saddening sentiments than beautiful choral harmonies offering empathy and understanding?

Come and enjoy the choir repertoire's rich love melodies of melancholy and sympathy – share a sorrowful Valentine’s Day with Malmö Academic Choir!
