On April 18 it's the university's climate day. At the Library you can swap clothes, plants, seeds, and books. There will also be workshops and an exhibition.

At the Orkanen Library

Throughout the day:

  • Book exchange
  • Get tips on reading climate topics at the library's entrance
  • Exhibition: Material Library
Material is a Medium. It communicates ideas, beliefs, and approaches; compels us to think, feel, and act in specific ways; enables and enhances functionality and utility. In the Material Design process, the designer plays an active role in designing, developing, and manipulating the material used to design objects instead of merely selecting a material to fit the form once the design process has been finalized. In the exhibition, students from the course Material Driven Design present new materials made from local organic waste streams e.g. food industry, seaweed from Ribersborg, and garden waste, turned into viable new materials and concepts.

The Inner Development Goals (English)
Why don't we act even though we have all the information? The climate issue makes visible a gap between what we have knowledge about and how we make decisions on a collective level and how we act. Or do we really know what we need to do and how?  In this session, the IDG framework is introduced: https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/ and how it can support our internal transformation and development that can give us an increased chance of achieving the sustainability goals. Here you will be invited to a conversation about what we can do to support our own and others' inner development. Workshop with Kristian Stålne, from the faculty of Technology and Society.

Climate change and education (English)
Valentina Pivotti, PhD and doctoral student at NMS will guide you through an interactive workshop for pre-service teachers and anyone curious about climate change education. This workshop will focus on climate change data in a fun and accessible way. We will dive into the facts and teaching methods for climate change education. It is open for anyone wanting a space to creatively discuss ways to include climate change into their future teaching practice across school subjects. Sign-up here.
