Increase in the number of applicants to Malmö University
After four years of a downward trend the number of programme applicants increased in the spring application period. The number of first choice applicants for Malmö University also went up.
We have increased our digital presence and worked towards displaying the University's wide array of courses and programmes.

In total, 63 700 people applied to Malmö University for autumn semester 2019. Some 15 000 of those picked the University as their first choice. Similar to previous years, vocational education and training stduy programmes were among the most popular. The social work, nursing and pre-school education programmes had the most applicants. First choice applicants to courses also increased, many of these popular courses are carried out through distance learning.
"This is good news. We have increased our digital presence and worked towards displaying the University's wide array of courses and programmes. We have also carried out efforts focused on lifelong learning aimed towards certain groups which hopefully contributed to the increased number of applicants," says Ingrid Persson, Communications Manager at Malmö University.
