Presentation

My research explores the possibilities of digital media practices for prefiguring just and democratic climate futures. My professional experiences span academic research, film production, interactive media art, and teaching/course design. I am a filmmaker, researcher, activist, teacher, and digital artist, and I have founded the arts collectives Burgundy Dragon and Eukaryote. I hold a Master’s degree (MA) in Communication and Cultural Studies from York University and Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto, Canada, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Film Studies from York University. I have presented at conferences across northern North America and look forward to sharing my work more widely.

In the coming years, I will pursue my doctorate, partnering with youth in Canada and Sweden to collaboratively produce activist media. My research examines how storytelling, imagination, radical hope, and media-making practices function as political acts. Rooted in research-creation and participatory methods, my study asks: what kinds of futures become possible when climate-frontline youth are not only represented, but also engaged as prefigurative digital media subjects?
