Johan Farkas is a PhD Student at Malmö University in Media and Communication Studies. His thesis examines the relationship between disinformation, journalism, and democracy. Farkas is the author of the book ’Post-Truth, Fake News and Democracy: Mapping the Politics of Falsehood’ (Routledge, 2019), written with Jannick Schou. He has also published in international journals such as New Media & Society, Social Media + Society and Critical Discourse Studies.

In the past, Farkas has been a Visiting Researcher at Cornell University, Chair of the Young Scholars Network of the European Communication Research and Education Association (YECREA), and a speaker at institutions such as the German parliament (before the Council of Europe) and the Swedish Ministry of Culture.
