Since February 2018, I have been employed as a PhD student in History and History didactics at the Department of Society, Culture and Identity. My research is about how sports are constructed as heritage in a national context. In my PhD project, I study how five sports museums in Sweden exhibit sports history, yet also the driving forces behind conducting this types of activities. For me, it is important to have a critical view of heritage from several aspects, partly to understand the structures for what is considered as heritage, and partly to find ways to investigate and expose the consequences of this. In my research, I therefore examine how sport as a heritage can be put in relation to the heritage of the surrounding society in both historically and contemporary senses.
The project is part-financed by the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science.
