About the project

The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether a crime preventive program/method denoted Risk Reducing Interventions (RRI)), developed and used by the police can prevent relapse into crime. The study will be based on all RRI cases from the start of the project in April 2018 to December 2019. Information will be gathered via interviews with police employees and by reading police reports, risk analyses and descriptions/logs linked to the specific RRI cases. All cases will be followed up in order to document if relapse in criminality has occurred. Hence, information about crimes and some personal data of the perpetrator will be collected. Some of this information will be sensitive and linked to the person such as name, address and social security number. Such information is not of interest for the evaluation, and will therefore be replaced with a serial number in the coding procedure. Data will be handled with great care and stored in a safe. No unauthorized person will have access to it. The results will be presented in such a way that information cannot be linked to an individual.

Participation in the study is voluntary and you can ask that your data are removed from the project's data set for whatever reason. If you want that to happen contact Klara Svalin via email (klara.svalin@mau.se).
