The course aims for you to develop skills in using English grammar and punctuation to write in correct English. Explicit knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation enables you to analyze and improve your own writing in English, as well as facilitate successful studies at university level.
The course contains an in-depth review of the English language grammar, punctuation and structure, as well as exercises in applying this knowledge in academic writing. The student will study and analyze the structure of English sentences, write essays, and analyze peer essays.
This course can be taken parallel to its sister courses to complete a 30 credit semester, offered as 3 separate courses in the series:
• Basic English Reading and Vocabulary Skills for University, 7.5 credits
• Basic English Grammar Skills for University, 7.5 credits
• Basic English Writing and Presenting Skills for University, 15 credits.
General requirements for university studies.
Upper secondary grades 34%, University credits completed 32%, Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (SweSAT) 34%

The University provides students who participate in or who have completed a course with the opportunity to make known their experiences and viewpoints with regards to the course by completing a course evaluation administered by the University. The
University will compile and summarize the results of course evaluations as well as informing participants of the results and any decisions relating to measures initiated in response to the course evaluations. The results will be made available to the students (HF 1:14).
