COVID-19 and University Housing
Malmö University works to ensure that our tenants are safe during this challenging time by actively encouraging our students to act in accordance with directives from the Swedish government. The information presented below is based on the current regulations. Should any changes be made by the Swedish Authorities, we will update accordingly.
Information regarding COVID-19
Information on COVID-19 and the regulation set by the Swedish Authorities
Quarantine period
Swedish authorities are not imposing quarantine for those travelling to Sweden, therefore you do not need to self-isolate before moving into University Housing. However, those who are feeling unwell and/or have been in contact with others with confirmed COVID-19 must isolate immediately upon arrival.
Social distancing
Tenants are recommended to keep a 1.5-metre distance from each other, whenever possible. The Housing Office recommends tenants create kitchen schedules in order to avoid crowds in the common areas.
Hand sanitising
Tenants should washi their hands regularly and/or use hand sanitiser. Please note that the Housing Office does not provide hand sanitiser.
Feeling unwell
Tenants with symptoms of COVID-19 should take a self-test (more information on this will be provided once you move in). Until the results have arrived, stay at home andisolate. Avoid spreading the infection: sneeze or cough into your armpit, or in a disposable handkerchief. Try to stay a couple of metres apart from others and only use communal spaces when absolutely necessary.
Tenant events
All events arranged by the RA’s will take place online and outdoors. We encourage all tenants to join all our social media channels, as well as stay connected with the RAs to find out what is happening in your building and in Malmö.
Virtual meetings with Housing Office staff
The Housing Office has switched to virtual online meeting using Zoom. If you need to make an appointment with us, please contact us via email and suggest a date and time.
Resident life
The residential environment is important for student learning. By facilitating conversation and learning beyond the traditional classroom setting University Housing empowers tenants to engage in discussion and meaningful interactions in the place where they spend most of their time — their home.
The residental staff are committed to helping tenants resolve any concerns that may arise during their time living within University Housing. Our live-in staff, Resident Assistants, serve as a resource, trained to assist tenants in a wide variety of situations.
The purpose of our residence life programme is to provide support for student learning by improving the quality of student life and community building in the residence. Through the use of challenging, hands-on, out-of-the-classroom experiences, we foster the development of our tenants in order for them to possess effective communication skills, a sense of social responsibility, and the ability to work as effective team members.

Malmö University scores top results in tenant satisfaction
"It is such an honour to win, and we are immensely proud of the hard work by our Resident Assistant over these past months. Without them, our tenants would not be as well taken care of during these trying times. It also satisfying to get confirmation that we are on the right track in developing University Housing, even though we still have areas in need of improvement," says Therese Löfgren, Housing Advisor at Malmö University.
The number of respondents reached an all-time high in the 2020 survey. Amongst the areas where tenants are the most satisfied, customer care and staff availability stands out.
Satisfied Customer Index (NKI) is measured at 80 out of 100. The average results amongst participating Universities is 76. Malmö University’s Net Promoter Score is 54 per cent. The response rate is 86 per cent. This is the fourth time that Malmö University has won in its class.
The survey, Satisfied Studbo, was conducted by Origo Group on behalf of the Student Housing Companies. Student housing companies are an industry organisation for student housing companies where most of Sweden's student housing companies are affiliated, both private and non-profit companies.
