How to prepare for the professorial inauguration

Registration for events during the celebration week

As a new professor, you are welcome to bring up to 10 guests with you to the Annual Academic Ceremony and the subsequent celebration, free of charge. Invitations and registrations for all events will be sent to you by email.

Dress code: Dark suit. Your guests are expected to dress smartly.

Hat or laurel wreath?

You will wear your doctoral hat, or laurel wreath, and robe during the ceremony. Contact your faculty representative if you want to order a laurel wreath.

To do on the days before the inauguration

Mandatory rehearsal

A mandatory rehearsal is held digitally for all professors the week before the ceremony. The rehearsal includes a briefing and time for questions. The date is set in consultation with the relevant professors.

Vernissage

All professors are invited to unveil their illustrated professor portraits at a vernissage in the Orkanen atrium at 15:00 on Friday, 9 October.

• Walkthrough of the installation via Zoom, as per the invitation, on Thursday 1 October at 16.15–16.45

Friday 16 October

• • 09.30 – 10.15 Registration at the Ceremony Centre, Level 2, Malmö Live. If you wish, you may place your cap in the labelled box if you are to wear one. (Wreaths will be delivered directly to the Ceremony Centre).
  • From 14.00 Collection of speeches and your wreath/cap at the Ceremony Centre.
  • 15.30 Gather at the Ceremonibasen, 2nd floor, at Malmö Live to form the procession
  • 16.00 The Annual Ceremony featuring the conferment of doctoral degrees, the installation of professors and the presentation of awards. Immediately after the ceremony, gather by the wreaths for a group photograph.
  • 19.30 Gala reception with food, drink, networking and a live band
