Malmö University is an institution of higher education and research. It is also a government agency. Vice-Chancellor Mia Rönnmar is the University's highest academic and administrative authority, responsible for overall development and quality.

Malmö University's management

Malmö University's highest decision-making body is the University Board. The University Management has overall responsibility for leading and developing the university. The University Management Group acts in an advisory capacity to the Vice-Chancellor.

University Management

University Management Group

Decision-making levels

Malmö University has three decision-making levels: the Board, the Vice-Chancellor and the faculties' management. The committees and councils are tasked with preparing proposals to the Vice-Chancellor for either a decision by the Vice-Chancellor or as a basis for the Vice-Chancellor's proposal to the Board, which is the University's highest decision-making body.

Advisory boards

Advisory Board for Research and Doctoral Education

This is a preparatory body for the Vice-Chancellor prior to decisions by the Vice-Chancellor and any decisions by the University Board. University-wide issues regarding research and doctoral education can also be initiated in the University's management group or other groupings, for handling in the preparatory committee.

Advisory Board for Collaboration and Innovation

The Board's mission is to plan, coordinate and monitor university-wide issues relating to collaboration, utilisation and innovation. The Board will also contribute to increasing the University's global visibility.

Joint University Administration and Services

The University has administrative departments known as Joint University Administration and Services. The University Director is the head of these departments and makes decisions under delegation from the Vice-Chancellor.

Internal Audit

Internal Audit's activities aim to support the University in achieving its objectives through independent and objective audits and advice. This is done by reviewing and suggesting improvements to the University's risk assessment, governance, monitoring and management processes.

Reports

The Head of Internal Audit reports significant findings and recommendations from audits conducted to the Chair of the Board and the Vice-Chancellor or the Vice-Chancellor's nominee on an ongoing basis. For each university-wide audit in the audit plan, a summary report is written and submitted to the Board and the Vice-Chancellor.

Internal Audit prepares a summary report of audits performed every year, including significant observations and other tasks performed during the year. The report also includes a follow-up of the measures decided by the Board of Directors as a result of previous years' audits.
