The Department of School Development and Leadership takes a holistic view of issues related to learning, education and school development. The research is organised through the Research Environment of Education and Special Education (ReESE).

Education

The Department of School Development and Leadership (SOL) is responsible for special needs teacher and special educational needs coordinator programmes. Students are taught subjects including mathematics learning, writing, reading and language development, neurodevelopmental conditions, inclusion and conversational methods.

The department is also responsible for a vocational teacher education programme, in which vocational didactics, professional expertise, adult learning and conflict management are central themes.

The department also offers standalone courses focusing on school development and leadership. In collaboration with the Regional Development Centre, SOL develops tailored commissioned education, primarily on behalf of schools and the Swedish National Agency for Education.

Special needs education

The Department of School Development and Leadership offers first and second-cycle programmes in special needs education. 

Educational leadership and school development

The department also offers courses in the field of educational leadership and school development. 

Supplementary training

We also offer teacher training for those who already have higher education credits or vocational training. 

Research

The department’s research profile is characterised by interdisciplinarity, societal engagement, theoretical development and a strong grounding in educational practice. SOL’s research brings together critical, relational and inclusive perspectives, with a particular focus on school development, leadership, special education and vocational expertise.
