Jess Haynie-Lavelle is a doctoral candidate at Malmö University and engages in the intersection of Global Politics, Global Health, and AI futures. Her work is a speculative project which doubles as an applied expression of participatory methods of political inquiry.

She explores how to co-create within global scopes as a way to focus on AI design and implementation, as related to equity, everyday health management, and ethics. Her fieldwork spans international borders and a diversity of participants.

Jess will give a talk that discusses the construction of a “global community” using the principles of Participatory Design. Within this concept the development of “the everyday” as a political point of analysis was formulated from the works of Freire and other decolonial and feminist scholars. Her thesis project asks the question: How can equitable health promotion of diverse everyday communities be supported in the era of globalised digital health communications?
