For many years, the research group Citizens and Sustainable Cities at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen has conducted intervention research in the neighbourhood of Tingbjerg in the outskirts of Copenhagen.

This is a long-term strategic initiative on community development and health promotion referred to as Tingbjerg Changing Diabetes.
It is also an integral part of the global Cities for Better Health programme.

At the Citizen Health lunch seminar, we will introduce Tingbjerg Changing Diabetes and two ongoing flagship projects within the initiative before opening the floor to questions and comments.

Paul Bloch will talk about the conceptual framework, objectives, developments and achievements of Tingbjerg Changing Diabetes since inception in 2015.

Tina Termansen will talk about the intervention project entitled Happy Healthy Children, which is addressing a prioritised need in the local community for strengthening the bonding between daycare institutions, leisure organisations and private homes of families with young children in efforts to intensify physical and social outdoor activities among children living in the local community.

Amaal Tawane Sabriye will talk about the intervention project entitled Integrated Diabetes Intervention, which is addressing a national priority to reduce inequity in health in Denmark by strengthening community engagement, intensifying self-care competences, and bringing primary health care services (including diabetes prevention, risk detection and disease management) out where people live their daily lives.
