Margit Nothnagl is to become the new University Director at Malmö University and will take up her post on 1 February 2027. She joins us from her most recent role as Administrative Director at the MAX IV research facility.

“We are delighted to welcome Margit Nothnagl to Malmö University. She has extensive and wide-ranging experience of senior management and leadership roles within the higher education sector and has led administrative operations at various levels for over 20 years. She also has a strong international profile and considerable experience of European cooperation in higher education,” says Andreas Jacobson, deputy vice-chancellor at Malmö University, who led the recruitment process.

Margit Nothnagl obtained her PhD in horticultural science from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in 2006 and holds a master’s degree in biology and geosciences from the University of Vienna. Before joining MAX IV, she served for several years as Faculty Director at SLU in Alnarp, where she also held other management roles at various levels within education and research.

“With her experience of leading complex organisations and of developing administrative support within two major higher education institutions, Margit Nothnagl is well equipped for the role of University Director. She will be able to make a significant contribution to Malmö University’s continued development and to the work on Strategy 2030,” says Andreas Jacobsson.
