Presentation
POSH (Police Officers Sustainable Health)
The aim of this project is to investigate physical and mental health, as well as physical fitness of police officers and police students in Sweden and thereby define factors that influence the ability to perform within the profession over time. Mapping the physical and mental health status in correlation with health-related physical fitness would provide tools to prevent illness and promote health and thereby increase sustainability within the police occupation.
The following research questions will be addressed:
• How do police's physical and mental health change over time? • What factors affect police officers' health and how are these factors related to police work practice? • Can health-related physical fitness be a protective factor against work induced ill-health?
This research is conducted in collaboration between the Department of Sport Science and the Department of Police Work at Malmö University, as well as Linnaeus University, and has been ongoing since 2020.
