Presentation

I obtained my dental degree in 1997, received my specialist certification in orthodontics in 2008, and earned my PhD in 2011 with a thesis on the secretion of minor salivary glands in growing individuals. In 2020, I was appointed Associate Professor (Docent) in Orthodontics. I have served at the Faculty of Odontology since 2008 and have held various responsibilities within undergraduate education, specialist training, and doctoral education, such as head of course and examinations in different courese, head of the orthodontic specialist training program, and director of doctoral studies. I have also been a member of the Faculty Board of Odontology and the Committee for Doctoral Education at Malmö University, and I am currently a member of the Faculty Board of Education and Society at Malmö University. Since autumn 2025, I have been Head of Section 4 and thereby part of the faculty management team. Through clinical studies, my research focuses partly on examining the scientific evidence for methods to identify and reduce unwanted side effects in orthodontic patients, and partly on evaluating how malocclusions, orthodontic treatment, gender, and socioeconomic background influence oral health–related quality of life in children and adolescents. In other clinical studies, I aim to investigate treatment efficiency and patient experience in the management of young patients with so‑called ectopic canines.
