Lärarlärdom 2026 – The student as co-creator: Teaching and assessment methods that foster critical thinking and academic identity
Call for abstracts
Higher education is currently being affected by changes in several areas: the turbulent global situation and the threat to democracy, shifting demand in the labour market, and, not least, the rapid development of generative AI, which is challenging our understanding of knowledge and the role of higher education.
To address these changes, it is more important than ever to provide students with the opportunity to develop an academic identity characterised by a critical and scientific approach. A prerequisite for achieving this is teaching methods that promote student activity and engagement, and which view students as co-creators of knowledge. An equally important development is to take into account both process and product in assessment and examination.
For this year’s Lärarlärdom conference, we particularly welcome submissions that demonstrate and discuss how this can be achieved in the practice of academic teaching. What methods are used to develop students’ academic identity, and with what results? What ideas and experiences would you like to share and discuss with colleagues?
Other examples of innovative teaching and assessment methods, small-scale research projects or ideas for future development work are also welcome.
Please submit your entry by 18 May.
What is Lärarlärdom?
Lärarlärdom is an annual collaboration between Blekinge Institute of Technology, Kristianstad University and Malmö University. Hosting of the conference rotates between the institutions, and this year Malmö University is the host.
The conference is aimed at teachers, researchers, educational developers and other staff interested in developing their knowledge of educational quality and learning in higher education.
The main aim of the conference is to
- provide a meeting place where teachers, researchers, support staff, management and student unions can come together for in-depth discussions on educational quality and learning
- create a forum that inspires discussion and knowledge-building about learning and teaching in higher education, as well as the conditions under which these activities take place
- establish a platform for pedagogical accreditation that gives teachers the opportunity to present their reflective experience and documented knowledge regarding learning and teaching in higher education.

New ideas, tools or support systems that can enhance teaching and learning are also welcome.
Please include at least two references in your abstract.
Everyone, both presenters and participants, will attend in person.

- Relevance to the conference
- Potential to contribute to developments in higher education
