A person looking into a machine

For the first time, we are jointly marking Ada Lovelace Day. On Tuesday 13 October, during the Annual Academic Celebration, the Faculty of Technology and Society invites you to an afternoon of inspiration, discussion and meetings with women working in technology and technical research.

Ada Lovelace Day is an international day that recognises women’s contributions to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and creates role models for future generations. The day is named after Ada Lovelace, who is often described as the world’s first computer programmer.

During the afternoon, we will meet three women with different backgrounds and experiences in the field of technology: Najmeh Abiri from DVMT, Yujing Li from MTM and Panagiota Stamatoglou from Volvo. They will talk, amongst other things, about what they are working on today, their career paths and technological advances.

When: Tuesday 13 October, 4.00–7.00 pm

Where: Café area, 2nd floor, Niagara

The Faculty’s PhD student Sally Bagheri will be the host and will guide us through the afternoon. The main language will be English.

We’ll be serving coffee and light refreshments.

A warm welcome to all!
