Vanna Nordling holds a PhD in social work anr her thesis from 2017 had the title “Destabilising citizenship practices? Social work and undocumented migrants in Sweden”. Her research covers topics such as social work and irregular migration, ‘mobile commons’ and mobilisation outside the welfare state, laws and guidelines as internal borders, and community work. She teaches on the social work programme and the Master's programme in social work and has a particular interest in higher education pedagogy.

Ongoing research: “What happens at school? A study of foreign-born parents' contact with schools in Rosengård.” A collaborative project with Rosengårds Folkets Hus that examines how foreign-born parents experience contact with their children's schools.
