About the project
The private sector as well as the civil society have until recently been an overlooked resource in crime prevention. However, in recent years these actors have gain more attention from politicians, practitioners, and researchers. There are today several crime preventive initiatives in which the private sector and the civil society play an important role, but we lack knowledge on how these actors can best contribute and what responsibility they can and want to take in crime prevention.
The overall aim of this research project is to increase knowledge about the role of the private sector and civil society in crime prevention, today and in the future. Findings from the project will contribute with knowledge regarding in which areas and through which efforts the private sector and civil society have the best opportunities to contribute to efficient, effective, and knowledge-based crime prevention. The project has a reference group with representatives from the private sector, the civil society, the municipality, the police and the county administrative board.
