Xin (Xinquan Wen) is a PhD candidate at Malmö University whose research in participatory design is shaped by diffractive approaches to engaging with atmospheric environments. By inviting participants to pay attention to the sky - through practices including cloudwalks and explorations of cloudtime - he investigates how paying careful, creative attention to atmospheric entanglements can nurture a sense of belonging and new forms of collective stewardship. Drawing on diffraction, Xin’s work traces how knowledge, practice, and experience interact across human and more-than-human boundaries, attending to emergent relations and the creative possibilities they offer. Through these explorations, he seeks to expand participatory design for climate-oriented urban transformation, highlighting the significance of attentiveness, temporality, and care in the shaping of ecological transitions.
