Project description

A growing number of older people with dementia remain in their ordinary homes with support by a family carer. Therefore, many municipalities in Sweden offer dementia educations as support to carers. At the same time, previous research has shown rising societal expectations of family caregiving.

This ethnographic project aims to explore the knowledge support offered to family carers and how this is connected to the moral dimension of family caregiving. What kind of knowledge is considered important from the perspective of professionals and family carers? The aim is also to explore how the knowledge is experienced and used in everyday life of the family carers.
