My research concerns body and health, mainly in relation to ageing and elderly care. I have explored lived experiences of ageing and how they are shaped by cultural norms and beliefs. I have also studied the implementation of palliative care in elderly care. Another research area is disablity studies, where I have conducted research about hearing loss and sound environments in everyday life, and also, perceptions of ageing with intellectual disabilities. I am interested in how body and materiality create meaning in everyday life, and I mostly use ethnography in order to study that. Also, I am part of the research field medical humanities, and have for instance examined the circulation of medical knowledge between science and society.
