Local experiences of diversity, exclusion and inclusion
We warmly invite you to Studio @altitude meetings for a public event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Malmö City Guest Professor in Migration Studies.
This panel will bring together scholars who have been Willy Brandt Guest Professors of Migration Studies at Malmö University and will be held on the eve of the Cross-Sectoral Symposium on Structural Racism, Diversity and Inclusion. The panel will provide an introduction and context to the Symposium by examining processes of cultural change, political polarization/mobilization, and the dynamics of exclusion/inclusion in three European cities: Bristol, Rotterdam, and Malmö. Each of these localities has many distinct features but is also a microcosm of larger social forces operating at the national and even international scale. Panelists will consider both the underlying forces that maintain or even intensify exclusion, as well as those that are promoting a more inclusive vision of society.
Moderator: Dan Hiebert, Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia
Speakers:
- Bridget Anderson, Professor of Migration, Mobilities and Citizenship, Bristol University
- Jonas Otterbeck, Professor, Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations, Aga Khan University
- Peter Scholten, Professor of Public Administration, Erasmus University Rotterdam
Whether you are a student, policymaker, or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to engage with groundbreaking perspectives on diversity in Europe. The event is free of charge, open to all, and will be held in English. Let’s celebrate 25 years of dialogue, research, and progress.
We look forward to seeing you there!
