Project Description

My thesis project, with the above working title, deals with inequality in energy usage and access with Sweden as an empirical case study. Based on heterodox economic theories, I frame energy poverty in terms of distribution, and the differences in ownership that produces that distribution. Methodologically, I work with a wide range of data over the Swedish housing stock and its inhabitants, energy firms and their owners, as well as price data, integrating across scales as well as utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data. Doing this, I wish to contribute both to the theoretical and empirical discussion around energy poverty, as well as to a broader methodological discussion.
