Presentation

My research focuses on inflammatory and stress-related conditions, with an emphasis on identifying and characterising clinically relevant biomarkers. My earlier work has centred on circulating biomarkers associated with inflammation and stress-related biological processes, ranging from sepsis to depression and suicidality, as well as physiological responses to physical exercise.

My current research is primarily focused on skin biology and immune-mediated processes, where I use traditional cell culture and develop advanced human-based 3D skin models to study cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying disease development and treatment responses.

By integrating experimental in vitro models with systemic biomarker research, my work aims to improve understanding of disease mechanisms and support the development of improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

In addition to my research, I primarily teach within the Biomedical Laboratory Science programme, where I also serve as program director.
