Malmö University's research centre, Citizen Health, invites you to a seminar on participatory action research (PAR). Iveta Kowolová, lecturer at the University of Ostrava and researcher in the Department of Social Work, will present a collaborative project alongside co-researchers from the Roma community in the Czech Republic. Their work centers on community leadership and participatory action research (PAR), with a focus on ethical engagement and inclusion of marginalized groups.

Through close collaboration with marginalised groups, they have explored issues such as community leadership and research fatigue.

Creating inclusive research

The project highlights how Roma co-researchers themselves define and exercise leadership in their local contexts, and how the research process can become more ethically sustainable and inclusive.

The presentation will show how participatory action research can help bridge the gap between academic research and civil society, especially in socio-economically disadvantaged areas.

Practicalities

The lecture will be held in English. You can participate either in person or digitally.
