Digital Work Futures Research Lab Seminar: Torbjörn Rolandsson

From algorithmic automation to LLMs: Articulations of public values in software mediated newswork

This talk draws on ethnographic studies of three Scandinavian news organizations performed between 2018 and 2025, to present a longitudinal perspective on digital newswork, as articulated by developers, designers, and journalists, in the face of algorithmic automation and artificial intelligence. In particular, I zoom in on how public values are negotiated, enacted, and embedded in algorithmic technologies and Large Language Models.
