Programme

Fate weaves a red thread through this concert programme – sometimes as a dramatic decision, sometimes as a lyrical reflection, and sometimes as an inevitable struggle.

Beethoven opens the evening with the Coriolan Overture, Op. 62, a gripping musical drama depicting the inner conflict of the tragic hero Coriolanus. The music reflects his relentless path and his battle with destiny.

A striking contrast follows with Carl Reinecke’s Flute Concerto in D major, Op. 283. Performed by Fabienne Kreuzer, the flute becomes a voice of poetry and light. Yet, beneath its beauty, there lingers a sense of nostalgia—an echo of past times and inner longing.

The climax of the evening comes with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36, a passionate confrontation with fate itself. From the relentless opening fanfares to the triumphant finale, the symphony unfolds as an emotional battle, pulling the audience into its depths.

Under the baton of Martin Kirchharz, this concert promises a night of intensity, contrasts, and echoes of fate.
