Gaza – a war on healthcare

Nick Maynard is a senior consultant in upper gastrointestinal surgery at Oxford University Hospitals. He will speak with us about his experiences working in Gaza during the ongoing genocide, as well as about the responsibility of healthcare workers to take a stand and act when human rights are threatened and violated.
He has been working regularly in Gaza since 2010 and led one of the first foreign emergency medical teams in Gaza in December 2023. He has recently been appointed Chair of the Board of the British organisation Medical Aid for Palestinians.
