Inequalities and wellbeing from a Swedish perspective
Welcome to the Seminar in Social Work with Brigitte Suter, Associate Professor in International Migration and Ethnic Relations at the Department of Global Political Studies, and affiliated to the Malmö Institute for Studies on Migration (MIM) at Malmö University.
About the seminar
Transnational families are families with family members in two or more countries who practice familyhood across borders. This presentation first presents transnational families as a concept and provides a short overview of the major developments in the field from an intergenerational perspective. It will then turn to Sweden and cast light on structural issues that impact transnational families, in particular families with extended care needs. The findings have been generated as part of a recently concluded international research project that worked with participatory and family-centered methodology.
