Verdis Requiem

In the borderland between opera and church music, Giuseppe Verdi transforms the traditional requiem mass into a moving musical journey filled with hope and comfort, but also intense drama. The air trembles with anger as over a hundred voices and a full symphony orchestra fill the room in the famous opening Dies Irae. In the next moment, the movements Agnus Dei and Lux Aeterna offer tranquillity and light. Verdi's Requiem gives voice to life's great farewell, where emotions move between darkness and light, drama and tranquillity.

This concert is a collaboration between St. John's Parish and Malmö University. The work is performed by the Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra together with the Johanneskören and Sankt Johannes Kammarkör, conducted by Christian Schultze.
