I teach in many of the more technically-oriented courses in the Interaction Design programme and am responsible for the first year Programming and Graphical User Interfaces courses.

My research centres mostly around the development of sensor systems, and the analysis and visualisation of ecoacoustic data. Furthermore, I have recently shifted towards thinking about other sensory modalities that might be useful for ecological sensing and monitoring. At a recent workshop held in Malmö with participants from Lund University and SLU along with researchers from the UK and USA, we explored the idea of a scent-based approach to ecological monitoring; put another way, a field of smellscape ecology.
