The Health, Care and Sexuality research group brings together interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research on sexual and reproductive health in healthcare, support services and other institutional settings, focusing on individuals’ experiences, how these issues are recognised, and relevant interventions.

Our Research

Health, Care and Sexuality brings together research projects at CSS that explore how sexual and reproductive health is experienced, understood and addressed within healthcare, support services and other institutional settings. The research includes the development and evaluation of interventions, as well as studies examining how sexuality is recognised, or overlooked, within healthcare and support systems. The projects focus on individuals’ experiences in relation to different illnesses, life stages and life circumstances, including cancer, chronic conditions, infertility, menopause, disability, substance use, female genital cutting/mutilation, sexual risk-taking, and phenomena such as compulsive sexual behaviour/sex addiction.
