The research area brings together researcher and teaching staff at the department interested in the living conditions of children, young people and families at both the individual and societal levels, where aspects of vulnerability, participation, norms, power relations and exclusion ae explored in its complexity.

Our Research

We focus on, among other things:

  • The living conditions of children and families in both individually and structurally challenging situations.
  • The everyday lives on adulthood and young people with a particular focus on spatiality, identity issues and resistance
  • Children and young people's participation and influence over what concerns them
  • Family policy and the conditions for and norms surrounding parenthood
  • Collaboration between actors involved in social child welfare and related areas that affect the living situation of children, young people and families.

Seminars are organised approximately three times per semester, one of which is in the form of an open seminar where others outside the group are also invited to participate.
