Verena Lenneis

Welcome to the first of Citizen Health's monthly lunch seminars

The seminars take place on Zoom and are open to join for anyone interested in CBPR, health, innovation and democracy.

For the premier of the seminar series we welcome Verena Lenneis. Verena is a health and sport sociologist and associate professor at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her research focuses on health inequalities and participation in physical activity. She is a qualitative researcher with particular expertise in exploring the perspectives of minoritized groups. In recent years, her work has increasingly centred on participatory research approaches.

Verena Lenneis will share insights from the HEALTHCOM project. Against the backdrop of increasingly diverse ageing populations in Nordic societies – and persistent health inequalities among older refugees and immigrants – HEALTHCOM aims to explore the opportunities and barriers to promoting health and well-being among elderly immigrants and refugees living in Nordic societies. HEALTHCOM consists of four sub-projects, initiated in the project’s four Nordic partner countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Each sub-project focuses on the community-based development of physical activities, working with different community partners and employing diverse dialogue- and arts-based methods.
