Title

Elucidating host-pathogen protein-protein interactions at the structural and molecular level

Speaker

Lotta Happonen, Division of Infection Medicine, Lund University, Researcher at the SciLifeLab and BioMS Lund proteomics platforms

Talk overview

The main research questions concern streptococcal nucleases and their interactions with the innate immune system. This research is fundamental in medical microbiology and infectious medicine, and aims to identify potential therapeutic targets to combat diseases caused by various pathogens. A more in-depth understanding of the protein-protein interaction interfaces between host and pathogen, together with high-resolution structural models on these complexes, is crucial for the development of new drugs and vaccines. The main methods we use include quantitative affinity proteomics as well as structural proteomics, along with electron cryo-microscopy.

We look forward to seeing you there!
