Title

Rethinking HCI for Cultural Heritage Experiences

Speaker

Professor Luigina Ciolfi

Abstract

Cultural heritage has long served as a valuable context for exploring human–computer interaction (HCI), particularly in challenging traditional assumptions about “use” and “users” through situated design approaches. This talk will reflect on both domain-specific and broader disciplinary issues within HCI, presenting ideas on why current paradigms for designing digitally mediated heritage experiences need to be rethought and expanded. It will also highlight how HCI can contribute to critical heritage discourse and help us examine emerging technological trends—such as AI—and their implications for cultural heritage interpretation.
