Sara Kalm, Associate Professor in political science at Lund University.

Abstract

Many countries now ”sell” citizenship and/or residence in return for investments to the global elite. What is not often noted is that this trade is largely managed by for-profit companies, who market, develop and carry out much of the practicalities of such programmes. This lecture will discuss these private actors, the power they exert and the strategies they use to legitimize this controversial trade.
