In their recently published book "Neutrality's Empire", Per Högselius, David Nilsson and Hanna Vikström examine Sweden's actions in colonial arenas during the industrial age.

Although Sweden did not have any colonies of its own after 1878 (when the island of Saint-Barthélemy was sold), Swedish actors were active in the colonial and post-colonial world. The period 1910–1965 in particular was a golden age for Swedish industrial colonialism.
