Project description
The project explores how social dimensions shape attitudes toward and the experiences of the body, sexuality and sexual health, using female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) as a case. Qualitative data will be analyzed to address the following questions:
- How do social context and context of immigration influence attitudes toward FGM/C?
- How do social definitions and norms on the body, health, and sexuality shape experiences of FGM/C?
- How does FGM/C impact sexual health throughout a person’s life?
- What role do healthcare experiences play in shaping perceptions and experiences of FGM/C?
