Welcome to participate in the 4th International Forum on Migration Statistics IFMS 2025

The International Forum on Migration Statistics 2025 will take place in Malmö, from 16-18 June 2025, orginised by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and Statistics Sweden, hosted by Malmö University, the Malmö Institute for Migration Studies (MIM), with the support of the Swedish government.

As transversal themes, specific attention will be given to the gender dimension as well as to innovative data tools, notably in relation to Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

An improved global understanding of international migration

IFMS 2025 will mobilise expertise from a wide range of disciplines that can contribute to an improved global understanding of international migration, including statistics, political science, economics, demography, geography, sociology, geospatial and data science and information technology. Speakers and participants will explore innovative ways to measure population mobility and generate timely statistics, with the aim of fostering synergies between different communities and perspectives, including representatives from countries of ‘origin’, ‘transit’ and ‘destination’.

An unique opportunity for policymakers to interact with experts

The meeting will provide a unique opportunity for policymakers to interact with migration data experts and analysts and to benefit from their expertise in evaluating policy frameworks and comparing policy options.
