My research focuses on the political dimensions of pedagogy, education, and teaching. I have examined the Swedish school system’s ambitions regarding equity and social justice, particularly in relation to the marketization of education over recent decades. A key focus has been on how students navigate as customers within a school market.

Another area of research interest concerns schools’ efforts to address problematic school absenteeism. In response to these challenges, many municipalities establish so-called “school social teams.” The work of some of these teams, and its implications, is currently being explored in the research project Collaboration for Attendance, which I lead at the University of Gothenburg.
