Course content

The course provides an introduction to some approaches and methods within service design and how these relate to product design. The aim is to offer students a general overview of how the design of products and services can contribute to value creation for organisations.

The course focus on value creation through design for different types of organisations and contexts. The students are introduced to product-service-system in theory and practice, through a selection of methods. Throughout the course, potential possibilities and challenges connected to products in service systems are analysed.

In the project the students will apply relevant methods when developing a product-service concept and then reflect on value creation through design. Here supervision plays a crucial role.

Entry requirements

52,5 credits within the main field Product design of which all 30 from the course "Produktdesign: Designmetodik" or 60 credits within the field of Design, or the courses "Visualiserings- och presentationstekniker och Designmetodik för produktutvecklare".

Course evaluation

Malmö University provides students who participate in, or who have completed a course, with the opportunity to express their opinions and describe their experiences of the course by completing a course evaluation administered by the University. The University will compile and summarise the results of course evaluations. The University will also inform participants of the results and any decisions relating to measures taken in response to the course evaluations. The results will be made available to the students.
