2023 marks the five-year anniversary of Malmö University receiving full university status. When Malmö University was founded 25 years ago, there was already established education and research at the School of Dentistry, which is celebrating 75 years this year, and the teacher training programme, which has existed for 63 years.

Malmö University is a young and modern university, built on a multidisciplinary approach to research, which often takes place in collaboration with other social actors. The diversity in Malmö and within the University allows researchers to ask unique questions and thus conduct nationally and internationally acclaimed research. Malmö as a city in strong transformation offers an enriching environment for our education and research.

We have also been recognised for producing internationally renowned research with small financial resources. Examples of research Malmö University is noticed for include street crime, housing policy, segregation, migration, urbanisation from humanistic and design perspectives, the complex issues of data society, child and adult learning, and various aspects of health and dental care.

We have also been recognised for producing internationally renowned research with small financial resources.

Malmö University is an important actor when it comes to providing society with talented and skilled workers. Many of our students graduate to become teachers, preschool teachers, nurses, social workers, dentists, engineers and police officers.

More often than the national average, our students come from homes without academic tradition and have a foreign background. We are a university that reflects the population, thus allowing for more room for different perspectives to take up space — which of course is also a quality aspect. We are proud to contribute to giving more people the knowledge and tools to help make society a little better, both locally and globally.
